Bellydance for Beginners: Belly dance is an ancient tribal dance with roots all around the cradle of civilization. As it has evolved and grown in popularity, one idea that has remained strong is the sense of community. Together, we humble ourselves in gratitude of our fellow dancers as we create a safe space to explore this tribal movement. This beginning class will emphasize creating a supportive environment as we explore both skeletal and muscular technique in a simple yet engaging choreography.
Talia Vintzileos is a lifelong student of dance. She is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Dance in Eugene where she was awarded a talent grant in 2011 to continue her studies. Her thirst for movement has led her to study various styles including but not limited to ballet/pointe, jazz, lyrical, belly dance, burlesque, hip hop, modern, tap, Irish, Hawaiian, Tahitian, and aerial silks. Talia is one of the first 18 belly dancers in the world to be certified in Rachel Brice’s 8 Elements™ Phase 2: Cultivation. She teaches workshops in the community such as belly dance isolations, belly dance for beginners, bellydance bootcamp and improvisational dance for shy people. Her style is contemporary fusion dance with a special focus on bellydance fusion for live electronic music performance.
