Amanda is a Yogini, Kirtan leader, world traveller, healer, artist, activist/ activator, and teacher. Amanda’s classes are a fun dynamic mixture of Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Pranayama (breath work), meditation, and freedom style movements all done in the spirit of Bhakti Yoga (a devotional practice centered on love, gratitude, and compassion). Classes are about burning away what no longer serves us so we may better cultivate a loving and fulfilling relationship with self/source/ spirit. Amanda’s journey into yoga began after graduating from college and resigning from her post as a grassroots political organizer in Chicago. Burtout and sick, she returned back home to the Monterey Bay Area and started her healing journey and process of self discovery. Amanda dove into yoga during this time and attributes it to her rapid recovery. Amanda took her first teacher training in theVinyasa Flow style of Yoga in 2008 and then moved to Los Angeles where she taught Power Yoga in Agora Hills, Yoga Hiking Retreats on Catalina Island, and Beginners Yoga in High Schools in South Central LA. Amanda stumbled onto Kirtan (Sanskrit chanting) by accident while in Santa Monica and was shocked at the heart opening transformation that took place in her through this practice. In 2010 Amanda had the honor to participate in a three month training at the Bhakti Yoga Shala with Govindas, who has been an amazing healer, teacher, and mentor.
A dream took Amanda to the Santa Cruz mountains where she formed Earth Yoga, a Bhakti based yoga center in the Santa Cruz Redwoods that ran successfully on community donations for a year. Durring this time Amanda was swept away by the “tribal revival” movement and began attending and teaching yoga at Festivals and retreats in Hawaii and the West Cost. Amanda lead an estatic liquid yoga class at Alchemeyezed Visionary Art Congress on the Big Island last year, and taught partner yoga at the Mystic Garden Party in Oregon. Based now out of Maui and Trinity County Earth Yoga is reaching out to the world. Amanda is now traveling to concious gatherings and festivals spreading her unique form of yoga bliss and kirtan. Om Tat Sat. Only goodness is truth. Jai Ma! Victory to Mother!
